Eeyou Communications Network (ECN) is a non-profit telecommunications corporation that provides broadband connectivity for the Cree communities of Eeyou Istchee and municipalities of the James Bay region.

Eeyou Communications Network infrastructures use modern optical fibre and Internet Protocol (IP) technologies to deliver advanced and reliable carrier grade services for connectivity to global telecom networks and the Internet highway. Eeyou Communications Network is an efficient access to global communications for:

  • Telehealth
  • Distance education and remote learning
  • Public safety and security
  • Community multimedia applications
  • e-Government and commercial services
  • Virtual Private Networks
  • Internet high-speed access
  • Broadband transport for telecom service providers
  • Connectivity to multiple public-service networks

Eeyou Communications Network is an association of major non-profit social, educational and governance services in Eeyou Istchee and in the James Bay municipalities. Financing of this $28 800 000 project is a joint effort. Local stakeholders include the Cree Regional Authority, the Conference régionale des élus de la Baie-James, the Cree School Board, and the Commission scolaire de la Baie James. Government support came from Québec through the Villes et Villages Branchés program and Canada Economic Development. ECN members include:
