Telecommunications Solutions Advisor

SUMMARY

Under the responsibility of the General Manager, the Telecommunications Solutions Advisor oversees the understanding of potential clients’ needs, quote presentations and contract negotiations for telecommunications services sales. They do so in close collaboration with all departments.

They are also responsible for market development activities in the Eeyou-Istchee James Bay Territory.

Specifically, they advise clients on the appropriate technological solutions to their needs and prepare service offers according to the cost estimates and timeframes needed.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

  • Develop, design, and submit proposals for telecommunications services with the support of technical specialists within the company, and follow up appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure projects meet the company’s customers’ satisfaction.
  • Harmonize billing of outside plant network construction and recurring services contracts according to the established terms and services delivered.
  • Contribute to the optimization of existing services and the development of new services on the territory.
  • Any other related task.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science or telecommunications OR College diploma (DEC) in computer science combined with relevant experience as a technician or technical analyst.
  • One year of experience in commercial contracts sales and management.
  • Experience with optical fiber or telecommunications in general, an asset.
  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
  • Member of a professional order or a technical association, an asset.
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of the Cree language, an asset.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Knowledge of the Office suite, mainly Word and Excel.
  • Advanced digital and computer skills.
  • General knowledge of technical processes in computer and telecommunications (network, IP-MPLS, optical).
  • General knowledge of commercial contract billing.
  • Communication skills to vulgarize and transmit technical information in a clear, concise, and accurate spoken and written way to various audiences (clients and colleagues).

IT Technician at the Network Operations Center

SUMMARY

The IT Technician supports the computer environment operation, which is essential to the operation of a telecommunications network, and participates in its monitoring. They also provide technical support to internal and external resources, and report to the IP-MPLS and IT Network Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • General IT technical support to internal teams
  • System, server, and database maintenance
  • Installation of PCs/laptops and software tools
  • Optimization and maintenance of reporting systems
  • Network devices configuration and testing
  • Part of the monitoring team for the network and its services
  • Effective troubleshooting, escalating complex problems with multidisciplinary teams, following existing processes
  • Escalate troubles to manufacturers as needed
  • Adequate troubleshooting, documentation, and ticket closure
  • Effective communication with customers and partners
  • Any other related task

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Technical DEC or DEP in a relevant discipline
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in IT
  • Virtualization system knowledge (VMWARE), operating systems (RHEL and others, Linux, Windows server, Windows 10)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 platforms (Excel; Word; Outlook; SharePoint)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Powershell; Bash; Python)
  • Ethernet Network troubleshooting experience (OSI Layer 2) and Internet Protocol (IP)
  • Experience with automated alert and pager systems (e.g.: Nagios, Solarwinds, Pagerduty, VictorOps, Opsgenie) is an asset
  • Experience with Network Management systems (e.g.: NOKIA 5620SAM)
  • Experience with a ‘NOKIA Service Router (SR)’ is an asset
  • NOKIA NRS, Cisco CCNA, or another equivalent certification is an asset
  • Understanding of optical fibre networks as well as equipment (transmission, amplification) is an asset
  • Knowledge of IT management standards (e.g.: ITIL) is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Quality of Service (QoS) and ‘triple-play’ concepts is an asset
  • Knowledge of firewalls, safety equipment and safety standards is an asset

Work and Maintenance Planner

Permanent, full time, 40hrs/week

MAIN DUTIES:

Under the responsibility of the Outside Plant Manager, the Work and Maintenance Planner must:

  • Plan construction and preventive and corrective maintenance work by ensuring communication with various stakeholders;
  • Conduct, monitor and schedule surveys and requests for third party permits for the use of their infrastructures;
  • Ensure the management and documentary updating of the outside plant in the Zonedge Management System and other platforms;
  • Provide first level technical assistance to the team of technicians in the field;
  • Actively participate in the improvement of working methods and the maintenance process as well as expansion of the network;
  • Ensure the availability of consumable material necessary for performing work and maintenance.

PROFILE REQUIRED:

Qualifications

  • DEC in electronics – telecommunications OR civil engineering;
  • 5 years’ relevant experience in telecommunications and / or in project management;
  • Have a valid class 5 driver’s license;
  • Bilingual: French, English (spoken and written). Skills
  • Knowledge of Office suite (mainly Word and Excel, Visio), as well as Zonedge and Autocad;
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management concepts, and tools (Asana);
  • Digital and technological skills;
  • Ability in oral and written communication with various audiences;
  • Knowledge of fiber optic network design (asset).
