GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Outside Plant Network Team Leader, the Outside Plant Network Technician is responsible for performing installation and maintenance work on the network as well as the connection of corporate and institutional clients of ECN, in accordance with established installation standards and processes. More specifically, he/she ensures that all necessary information is obtained in the field to facilitate preparation and installation. He must read the installation plans and ensure that they are respected. He receives his assignments, prepares the necessary equipment and proceeds with the installation or repair of fiber optics. The Outside Plant Network Technician must proudly represent ECN, as he/she is often the only face-to-face contact that the corporate or institutional customer will have with the company. He may also be called upon to assist the installation technicians as needed. His or her work is performed in accordance with safety codes, customer practices and ECN procedures and policies.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out installation and maintenance work on the network in accordance with the plans and specifications;
- Plan daily the installation and maintenance work to be carried out, ensuring that the necessary equipment is available;
- Maintain and prepare the equipment for the following days’ installations;
- Support or replace the installation technicians as needed (refer to the installation technician job description).
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma;
- Professional diploma in electrical engineering - Cable and telecommunication equipment repairer and installer or equivalent training (asset);
- Valid class 5 driver’s license (class 3 is an asset);
- Basic numerical and computer skills (computer and smart phone);
- Ability to read plans and specifications;
- Possess a General Construction Site Health and Safety Certification from ASP Construction (an asset);
- Knowledge of PSO-HTF design, construction principles and industry standards;
- Working at heights certification (an asset);
- Fiber Optic Technician Certification (CFOT - an asset).
Job specifications
- Required to travel to various locations, including some remote and isolated locations to perform work;
- Requires stays away from home;
- Regular day and week work schedule. Regular day and weekday work schedule. However, the work day may be extended due to travel and issues encountered;
- Must be available for evening and weekend support and intervention.

Warehouse and Purchasing Coordinator

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Reporting to the Manager Finance and Administration, the Warehouse and Purchasing Coordinator ensures the proper management of merchandise, from receipt to delivery, including storage, so that it is always available to meet the needs of the various departments throughout the territory served.
More specifically, he/she ensures that the level of stock available is sufficient in terms of type and quantity of material and sees to the placing and follow-up of the necessary orders with suppliers. He is also responsible for supervising the warehouse clerk. His work is done in accordance with the norms and standards of inventory management as well as the procedures and policies of ECN.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate the level of inventory of equipment and stock according to each department’s forecast.
- Purchase and follow up on orders required for the execution of projects to ensure that materials are available on time and within budget.
- Receive merchandise at the warehouse.
- Supervise, manage and mobilize the team under his/her supervision.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in terms of storage and handling.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma.
- 3 years experience in inventory management and/or warehouse.
- Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Possess or obtain an OHS certification from ASP Construction.
- Must be a certified forklift operator or have obtained one.
- Knowledge of the Cree language is an asset.
- Be in good physical condition.
- Ability to work with the Office suite, mainly Word and Excel, and Sage 300.
- Knowledge of fiber optic network products and their characteristics, an asset.
- Knowledge of inventory management.
- Mastery of handling techniques.
- Ability to detect problems (non-conformity, missing or damaged products) and to take appropriate action without delay.
